The Damascus Room
Complete 'ajami rooms and coffered ceilings. Walls, cornices, cupboard doors, and mirrored niches composed as one interior, in the tradition of the great Damascene reception rooms kept today in world museums.
Majlis Environments
Seating, carved woodwork, lighting, and upholstery designed as a single composition. A majlis that carries Damascus in every detail, yet lives comfortably in a modern villa or penthouse.
Furniture & Lighting
Mother-of-pearl inlay consoles and tables, carved doors, mirrors, and lanterns. Each piece is made to your exact dimensions and finished to sit beside the rest of your interior.
The Craft of 'Ajami
'Ajami is the painted woodwork of old Damascus, the technique behind the city's celebrated reception rooms. Artisans pipe a fine gesso paste onto walnut and poplar panels by hand, raising the ornament in delicate relief. The relief is gilded with gold and silver leaf, glazed with warm tinted varnishes, and painted in natural pigments. Tulips, carnations, pomegranates, and poetry cartouches flow across walls and ceilings.
Time only deepens it: the glazes mellow into the amber glow of centuries-old rooms. Our Damascus ateliers still practice the craft the traditional way, and engineer every panel as a modular piece, sized to your walls and ready for installation in the UAE.

Dervinova is a UAE company. You purchase locally in AED, and we handle everything end to end: measurement, manufacturing, shipping, and installation, with one team responsible from the first sketch to the final polish.
